Guided bear viewing tours place you are in a pristine remote area, seeing bears in “their land”, Katmai National Park. You have a guide walking with you on the bear trails talking about the animals who have a natural curiosity but are not threatened by your presence. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view bears this way, you will not be disappointed! These tours involve a lot of hiking and are geared for the physically fit. They are not recommended for children or people with limited mobility. Float planes depart from Beluga Lake at 8am and return by 7-8pm. The scenic ride across Cook Inlet takes about an hour ½ then you land on the river and hike about a mile, seeing bears everywhere! Bring bug spray, rain gear, lunch snacks beverages, camera, binoculars and warm clothes. A third option is to fly to a remote lodge for bear viewing, lunch and guided hike. Overnight trips are also available at the lodge.
